Waterstone Defeasance LLC Closes on a $46.3 Million Freddie Mac Loan
CHARLOTTE, NC: Waterstone Defeasance recently closed a defeasance transaction for a $46.3 million Freddie Mac loan, secured by a multifamily property located in Lorton, VA. Waterstone guided the owners through the defeasance process coinciding with the owners’ refinance of their loan.
As the defeasance consultant, Waterstone managed the activities of the numerous parties involved with the transaction in order to meet the borrower’s closing schedule. Parties associated with a defeasance transaction typically include the servicer, servicer’s counsel, borrower, borrower’s counsel, securities broker, custodian, accountant, rating agencies, and the successor borrower.
“The borrower’s refinance of their 251-unit, multifamily property in Lorton, VA drove the defeasance. The new loan retired a 2016 originated Freddie Mac loan. We appreciate the borrower’s confidence in Waterstone and allowing us to work with them on their transactions.” – Carol Tillman, COO with Waterstone
